NaNoWriMo has officially begun!
Take the NaNoWriMo pin I’m about to give you and pin it somewhere to help remind you of your goal. You have 30 days to complete it.
And now for your FIRST WRITING CHALLENGE:
The first 10 students to reach 25% of their word count will receive a prize.
The rules: you must either type directly on the NaNoWriMo site or copy and paste it (the site will alert you once you’ve reached 25%).
Direct Message me on the site as soon as you have (just to ensure I notice!)
Today, our focus is on creating well-developed characters.
First though, let’s talk about author bios. We’ll read some together and then you’ll write your own.
I highly encourage all of you to type your author bios on NaNoWriMo by clicking on Profile, then typing it under writer bio.
Now, let’s read pages 10-11 in your workbooks about creating well-developed characters and think of some examples from our favorite books.
Now, find a partner. Share with each other three characters from your novel: the protagonist, an antagonist, and a supporting character. If you’re not sure, brainstorm with each other. Try to define what kind of antagonist you have in your novel and provide evidence. Be prepared to share with the class.
Tomorrow, we will work on the character questionnaires.
For the remainder of the hour, it’s time to work on the daily prompt.
DP #27: Write your novel
Write non-stop until the end of class: anything and everything to do with your novel. Feel free to bring your own technology if you want to type instead of hand write.
