“I’m Sorry” by teinkie

My journey as a writer all started when I was born.

Nah, just joking. Well it’s the truth but that’s too far back to really mean anything.

I’ve always been a creative person. When I was younger (as in when I was four) I would spend my days conjuring up stories in my head, whether it be about the toys I was playing with or something completely made up. Back then I would let these stories come to reality in drawings, since I didn’t know how to write. As I got older and learned how to write, I stopped drawing and started writing my stories down. I did this until about the sixth grade, when I had to start writing research papers for school. Because of this, I developed a hatred for writing. But thanks to this class I was able to write about what I wanted, so I guess you could say I don’t hate writing anymore.

I chose this piece because Danny Phantom is my favorite cartoon, and it felt so easy to write a fanfiction about it. Writing fanfics of stories that have some sort of supernatural powers (pun intended) as one of the main focuses in the story is easy. This is something I learned when I used to dabble around with fanfictions. Anyways, this story is about Vlad Plasmius coming back to Amity park to apologize to the Fentons for all he’s done to them.

“I’m Sorry”

There was a knock at the door.

Everyone stopped talking and looked at the door. Who could possibly be here at this hour, especially after what just happened earlier?

There was another knock. No one moved, either because they were too sore to move or simply because they didn’t want to. Everyone looked at each other, each one waiting for someone else to move first.

For a third time, there was a knock at the door.

Dani was the first one to muster up the strength and slowly walked to the door. Her movements were forced and she obviously in a lot of pain, but nobody said anything. Everybody was broken.

She reached out for the cold, silver doorknob and slowly turned it. She lowered her head, bracing for whatever was to come. Who knows? It might be another attack.

Pulling back on the door, she opened. But there was no attack. She slowly looked up, her long bangs in her face, and saw the one thing she was more afraid of than anything.

Dani took a step backwards, but tripped and fell on her back, screaming in the process.

Both Danny and their mother jumped up to see if the girl was alright, but stopped when the reached the door.

“Vlad…” Their mother said in disgust. She reached for a weapon attached to her belt. “What do you want?”

Dani by now had recovered and was taking shelter behind her older brother, who had taken a defensive stance at the sight of his arch nemesis.

Vlad looked at their mother and began to speak. “Maddie I…” He paused and now looked at Danny and Dani. “I came here to-”

Their father by now joined his wife and children. “You what? Came here to get your revenge?” He said bitterly, slowly moving in front of his family to act as a barrier if Vlad tried to do something.

“No! I…” he looked down, “I came… to apologize”.

For a moment, the air hung thick with what Vlad had just said. Danny was the first to break the silence.

“You? Apologize?” he snorted. “Since when do you apologize for anything?”

Vlad looked a little hurt when Danny said this. “Yes, Daniel. I came here to apologize to all of you for what I have done.” He looked at their father, “Jack… I’m… I’m sorry for betraying your trust and ruining our friendship. I was so obsessed at killing you for ruining my life that I was blind to the fact that no matter what I did, you still believed in me.”

Vlad turned to Danny and Dani. “I’m sorry, to both of you, for putting you through so much at such a young age. I…” He again paused to collect his thoughts.

“I’m sorry. I know you will never forgive me for what I have done, and that’s fine. But I just want you to know that I do feel horrible for what I’ve done. I know I can never repair everything I broke, but I…” He sighed.

“I’m truly sorry for all the lies I told and for the lives I crushed for my own greedy agenda. And, Danielle.”

Dani peeked out from behind Danny. “Yes?”

“I’m sorry for lying to you. I wish I had not been so stubborn with making the perfect clone. You were the perfect daughter, and the best thing I have ever created. You we’re a good daughter, but I was not a good father. I am glad the Fentons took you in. They deserves someone like you.”

And with that, Vlad turned around and transformed into his ghost half and flew into the night sky, away from Amity Park forever.
